    Banned for Disliking them?

No, They must do something wrong or not follow forum rules. But not for simply disliking them. The opposite happens too. I like some users, but I had to remove them for not following the forum rules.(tough decision though, but rules are rules)

Require Real Names Instead of Usernames

I wouldn't require real names on forums. That's why I have separate scripts where they can put their real names, but for internal purposes like billing, etc...

What’s your favorite way to reward active members?

Yep. I am using MicroLikes to do that.

    Is your forum a dictatorship?

Someone told me once my forum was something like that. lol... There is a difference between dictatorship and rules to keep things working. Some people are too susceptible to follow common sense rules and they call it a dictatorship. I do ask members about things, then I make the last decision...

What feature is still missing from every forum software today?

A mixture of content creation with rewards for active/engaged members. Even Coca Cola with it's age, still make promotional games a constant. There are pretty well advanced addons of "Credits", "Badges", etc.. Any forum owner can use those tools to give more than Badges, etc.. Give real tangible...

Are Niche Forums Dead in the Age of Reddit and Facebook Groups?

They definitely exist... I am one of those. When you pay your people/team, you can require few things, that's how life works. Like any business does with their employees. The more you pay, the more you can require. There is no wrong/right. It all depends what you goals are as admin or as a...

What feature is still missing from every forum software today?

What's missing is missing is creativity from forum owners. There are plenty of features already in them. But unused to it's potential. A new one will not make any difference.

Are Niche Forums Dead in the Age of Reddit and Facebook Groups?

I’m intentionally holding off on expanding my forum too quickly, not because I can't get it active (I can, and have), but because I'm thinking long-term. The real problem with forums today isn't that they're "dying." It's that many expect to build and grow one without spending money. This is...

    Too Much Blog Spam

Unbelievable right? How big is WP and lacking such a trivial function... But's not only the problem with urls. What about comments similar to : "sXXJDIFlkjlkhHOIIHD" that does not contain urls? I mean, I had many thousands of those.

    Too Much Blog Spam

My few attempts to run a blog, I simply remove the ability to post comments... Still, when I make a new post, I forget to click that option, and spam pours like heavy rain...

    Too Much Blog Spam

Yes, it's a non stop process. Tons of time wasted. And when a true user post a comment, it's lost among the spam. From my perspective, there is no much difference (context wise) from a blog post vs a well formed forum posts. And there is more control against spam with a forum than with a blog.

What’s your take on mobile apps vs. mobile browsers for forums?

I was just thinking, part of the reason social media is so popular is that it naturally blends with many aspects of a person’s everyday life, while forums tend to be more niche-focused. Social platforms attract a wide variety of interests and personalities, which makes the "network effect"...

Are Niche Forums Dead in the Age of Reddit and Facebook Groups?

Are forums supposed to copy social media? If so, in what way exactly? To me, when a forum tries too hard to be like social media, it kind of loses what makes it a forum. It just turns into another social platform. Funny thing is, a lot of forums want to act like social media, and social media...

    Secret Admin

While it might work on physical stores, I don't think it works on online forums. The dynamics are totally different. That might work if you are investigating a specific user or your forum involves minors or other specific topics, but anyways, I don't see how it would fit into a regular forum...
