Profit Paid Membership Worth

Are paid membership plans even worth messing around with?

I mean, let's face it. Most people are joining forums for free and staying as free members. If they don't like ads, they block them. People will figure out how to be a free member and be satisfied as a free member. It's the way of the forum.

So, unless you have a paid-only forum, do you think having a paid membership is even worth it because you'll have very few paid members compared to those who remain free?

Having a paid membership offering no much more than what others offer for free it's a lost cause.
In websites/forums that have both free/paid versions, the majority never pay. Just a small percentage are paying
users if they find useful what you offer.

I have been using YouTube for over 15 years, and not long ago, I just paid the subscription to avoid ads...

The same with google (to get more GB for my images) I didn't pay until I ran out of space and it's more costly
to move my images than paying... The lesson I learned from own experience... the more free stuff you give, the longer
will take to convert free users to paid members.

It's true but you definitely need to have value in order to sell when your competition is not selling.
