Do you make daily backups on your hosting service?

I have a feature where I can backup my websites via-my hosting service on a daily basis if I want to.

Can you also do that? Do you do it?

My server is set to take three daily backups and i also download one to my phone & laptop on a daily basis.

I tend to upload backups to an off site drive as well. That way I have backups stored in various places.

I get a snapshot of my instances, which is essentially a copy of the entire "machine" (OS, configuration, etc.) daily, and then do daily backups of individual websites, both on and off-location, with one being on my home NAS.

I don't trust services provided by hosting providers. Ergo why I run a script that allows me 7 day rolling backups. I could easily increase that, but generally I have found if I have not noticed an issue in 7 days... that's my problem. So far (knock on wood) that has not bit me.

I've posted the script I use elsewhere.. it's nothing major and is ran in a CRON job and then I use Transmit on my Mac and rsync on my Linux based NAS servers to pull it in.

I do my own backups, too. However, I do use the hosting service backup as a secondary backup as well.

How many times have you tested the validity of the backup they provide?
