Cloud vs. VPS

Cloud hosting or VPS hosting.

Which is better for forum or blog admins and why?

Have you tried both?

From what I researched, cloud is faster, but from personal observation I've only used VPS.

The question is... what do you consider "cloud".
Is that SaaS?
Is that distributed VPS offerings?

since the cloud has expanded from what it used to be. Cloud is simply distributed computing and many shared hosting setups are like that and even VPS offerings can utilize a "cloud" structure so that you don't have to have bespoke VPS servers. You have a core processor (some that can be distributed over multiple dedicated servers) than attached storage that is used. The term "cloud" has really lost the meaning that it originally had.

Now, to answer the question... for any script like this I prefer self-hosted and either on a VPS or dedicated server.

I'm sort of distrustful of the Deep IT State . I'm not sure if I want things in the cloud.

I haven't had cloud hosting, but I've had a vps in the past. I prefer to self-host my own websites. I won't be switching to a cloud hosting provider anytime soon, lol.
