Anyone ever messed around with this plugin or plugin maker for XenForo?

I have considered it for my local cycling forum.

I know that Bob is working on one. Events Management System.
Knowing the quality of his other add-ons it might be worth your time contacting him. I don't know if it has been released yet or not as since I am still stuck on XenForo 2.2.16 waiting on some other add-ons to get updated I haven't been keeping up over there as the posts pertain to the new 2.3 product line mainly.

If Bob made one, I'd buy his over anyone else!

I'll have to shoot him a PM and see what he says.

Bob is a solid developer. I know that an event management system has been discussed over on his site for a period of time. The one thing that would keep me from using it is I prefer to have a calendar function built into it. I think he had stated that was not going to be an option.
I don't think it's released yet as I mentioned, but you would be well served by checking with him.
He's one of those developers that helps keep XenForo current in todays websphere.

Events manager. That's another reason why I am contemplating moving to Invision Community. It's a part of the core if you choose to install it.

From what I remember, Invision wasn't a bad platform way back when.

I'll probably make the decision to get a license at some point.

I am in process of setting up a test site and will import the Forum² data. If all goes well Forum² will be moved to IPB. Once it's setup I'll give you admin access to look around and play with it.

The add-on by Bob is a lot more full featured than the renamed Calendar app that Invision had, unless they have made some drastic improvements to it since the 4.3 version of the script I ran. I did like how clean their integration was though.

It's a great suite of products, especially if you can learn to use Pages to its full extent.
With it you can create a lot of ability for the content generation on your site that is not a standard forum post format.

You guys are going to talk me into getting Invision yet lol

If I had another site I was going to set up that I wanted a full meal deal I'd be renewing my license and using that on it.
Still not a big fan of the iffiness of the remaining time left for a self-hosted version as I definitely do not want to be forced into SaaS solution since I have other sites I run and that just unnecessarily increases the cost of the sites to have one on a dedicated SaaS solution.

That is what I'd be worried about the most.

vBulletin also makes me think they might want to go that way. I've been getting promotional items about switching to their cloud.

SaaS is the big thing though these days. It's crazy. I want to create a paid community for a blog I have. Circle is what everyone uses for that. Circle is $100 a month for the basic. However, I can use a combination of WordPress plugins and pay around $500 a year versus $1,200!

I wouldn't worry about it. They will always try to get you to switch. The money is made on them. If they went away from selling the software it would be their death.

Microsoft tried software as a service with Outlook. It was a test to see how it would work before they introduced Windows 11 as SAAS. Ever wonder why it took so long for Windows 11 to be released? It lasted less than a year before they released the next version to download. Instead they went to subscription model. You don't actually own it. You rent it. I think that could be what they would do. Force you to renew or software stops working.
