Do any of you remember the free domain names co.cc and .tk by chance?

These two (among others) were popular TLDs that you could freely register in the early 2000s of the internet. I remember a lot of forums and blogs having them. I don't think I ever used them myself.

How about you all? Did any of you use them? If so, tell us how and was that site successful?

Ah yes, and sytes.com or something. Good times!

Didn't really knew what I was doing though. :P
Here's an even older one: Tripod and Lycos or Angelfire. I remember using them.

My first though was WebTV as I had that before a computer hooked to the internet. We had non-internet computers in the very early 90s. Floppy discs. I remember playing really old games on it.

In jr high school, we had a technology class. It just taught you how to start a computer, use a keyboard, and then turn off a computer. LOL

I must be too young! I don't remember those at all. :D I do remember playing games from floppy discs. Good times. We were so happy with what we had. Imagine having that today though.

I tried one, not for a real project, but I wanted to know how it works. It is a futile effort to use free domain and hosting, if you are serious about a project.

Yes I do an others free domains too, but for a real project I would get a real domain.

I think I remember when you used on long time ago.

Was it you that used 000webhosting a lot?

Still feels like yesterday. 000webhost was the decent among them all. I never used it for a serious project, though. I created an account and linked it to a test domain.

I used to use something called freepgs.com after using free hosting services like Angelfire and Tripod.

It costed like $3 (one time) but gave you a lot of features and no ads. I really liked it.

It's no longer around but back when it was, it was pretty cool. Used it to make simple websites.

Didn't know. It is best to go for a full-time premium hosting if you don't want to give a bad experience to users. Because intermittent downtime, slow loading times etc are hard to avoid in budget and free hosting providers.
