I've been with my old ISP for over 15 years using their cable internet and overall had been happy as I paid for 1Gbps download speeds and normally got 800Mbps. But for the last 2 months that changed and I was getting 20Mbps at the best early in the morning hours. It was taking me over a day just to download the offsite backups to the house.
I've had their techs come out 6 times and all of them agreed that the issue was upstream and required their maintenance people to come out (the ones that use the bucket trucks since they work on the main lines). Zito kept ignoring that and since Brightspeed had been in the neighborhood for the last month stringing new fiber I decided to give them a call, with the result of signing up with them for their 2Gbps symmetrical fiber offering.... and so far... I'm liking it!

And that speed was nice. I pulled in an entire weeks worth of backups for all my sites in about 45 minutes.
I did have to buy a new router that supports 2.5Gbps on the WAN port, but that wasn't that expensive and it keeps me from having to rent the Brightspeed router, which is not as good as the TP-Link AX80, especially with the AX80 ability to use their EasyMesh system. Oh, and I also did have to crawl into the attic and run a fiber run from the computer/telescope room to where I was going to have them mount the demarcation box, but that wasn't that hard other than poking a hole in my arm and puncturing a vein with the wood borer bit as I was climbing into the attic (we have an older house that you have to use a ladder to climb through the cutout), so the side trip to the doctors office to have them check it added some time to the install.

I had been debating getting the Zito fiber that was coming into the neighborhood in a few months, but with dealing with their current incompetence we decided it was better to look elsehwere.
