Some people don't like Google or its services.

But they still need analytics.

Do you use a Google Analytics alternative at all?

If yes or if you have in the past, what did/do you use? Is it comparable to GA?

Cloudflare’s web analytics is a nice alternative to Google analytics. I was using it for a while, but I don’t use it currently.

It shows you a lot more data than Google Anayltics. There’s also Ahrefs’s new Analytics script as well.

Ever heard of Matomo?

It's open-source analytics that you host on your own server.

Kind of like old-school GA

Personally, I prefer Google analytics because they give a much better details but if I must have another alternative, Cloudflare analytics is quite good too.

I'm not so familiar with Matomo but I'm going to look into it.

What all metrics does Cloudflare give you?

More and more, I feel like I need to jump on board.

Cloudflare Web Analytics gives you the following metrics:

Traffic & Visitor Insights
Unique Visitors
Page Views
Visits – Number of sessions where a user interacts with your site.
Bounce Rate –Performance Metrics
Load Time – How long it takes for pages to load.
Core Web Vitals – Metrics like First Contentful Paint (FCP) and Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) to measure page speed.

Geographical Data
Visitors by Country – Breakdown of where your traffic is coming from.
Referral & Source Data
Top Referrers – Websites sending traffic to your site.
Traffic Sources – Direct, search engine, social media, etc.

Bot & Threat Detection
Bot Traffic – Differentiates between human users and bots.
Security Threats – Flags malicious activity.

Technology Insights
Devices & Browsers – Breakdown of users by desktop, mobile, and browser type.
Operating Systems – Shows what OS visitors are using.

Yes, it does. It might be a few minutes off, but it’s a lot better than the data that Google Analytics provides.
If that works better for you and provide a more accurate information, it's better to stick to it because in the end, a more accurate information beats working with a popular tool that doesn't provide the best data.
