Hiding forum statistics

I think the forum statistics widget is too much of an activity crusher.

I think most admins and some members care too much about numbers. Number of members, number of topics, number of posts, and so on.

I think that vanity metrics result in people not posting and admins not wanting to continue.

I've removed all mine from all my forums, including here at AAF, and honestly, forums have got better for me because of it.

What do you all think? Have you done the same?

I've seen where a forum owner was accused of manipulating his forum's statistics just to look bigger in the eyes of his competition. It was a big problem then which apologise flew out to calm things down.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it but for those who loves it being made public, they can do as they see it.
