Even though forums are not as popular as they once were, people are still creating new ones to this day.
That's why many forum software platforms are still actively developing, because they're still getting customers whether the platform is free or paid. We may not be seeing everyone launching forums, but you know there are still plenty of people doing it.
That brings me to my question for this topic: How often will you voluntarily join a new forum that has been launched?
I say voluntarily because I mean you joining to be a part of the community but to complete a posting exchange or membership agreement.
What has to happen for you to join a new forum?
Personally, if I find the topic to be interesting, I'll join. I also get a little competitive but in a good way of wanting to be one of the biggest posters of that forum. A good example is CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET which is about UFOs, a topic I'm interest in. I joined and started posting as much as I could. I made sure my posts were valuable. Now aside from the owner, I'm the top poster on the community. I kind of like that status but I also remember that it's important that my content is good and contributes to the forum.
But I have to enjoy the topic otherwise I'm probably not going to be the most active member and therefore I usually don't join because I know I won't be that active.
