Merged one forum into another

Have you ever merged one forum into another?

I mean like hisforum.com into yourforum.com? A full forum merge.

How was it for you? What errors did you run into? Was it a part of a sale?

Done it many times. The lastest being last week when I combined 2 of my tech sites.

To merge sites all site files and database have to reside on the same server. You could get away with leaving the database on another server as long as remote connection the database server is on.

Most forum software allows merging multiple forums. I've done it with bbpress, mybb, xenforo, vbulletin and IPB.

One of the sites was a blog. The Wordpress importer in IPB works very well. I have to the choice to import to the blog or cms. I chose pages because it so powerful.

WordPress to forum software? That would be interesting. I don't think I've ever done a merge like that before!

Thanks to @AWS my forum is now merged with another forum, and I am using the domain for a forum that I shut down a long time ago.

I've never merged any forums, but I've seen other admins merge their forums. I think merges with forums of a similar niche can benefit a community.

Well I’ve merged Agora and Administrata 2 weeks ago. All in all, the merge went perfectly. I’m having trouble to be motivated to manage two forums. And Agora was sadly being neglected. Nonetheless, it now continues to live on.

What was Agora about? Was that the freelance community you made? Or am I thinking of something else.
