I think some forum owners make the mistake of launching with too many forums and not providing enough content in each of them.

I've definitely made that mistake plenty of times. It's easy to. I do agree though, start small and go from there.

I made that mistake, and it costed me my biggest forum. It also costed me money that I used to buy out my competition.

Being too broad with your forum niche is a sure recipe for failure. That's the mistake I made with my first forum. I just launched a general cooking forum. I really struggled to have a single engagement on that forum.

So, as a new forum owner, preparing your mind that there are going to be challenges along the way can help a lot in being ready to face them whether it is the low turnout of posts or something similar.
