On the first of January I started a blog website, I'm a freelance writer and so I thought I would have an additional place to write and be able to add some of those pieces to my writing portfolio. I have a few social media accounts, where when I publish an article (once or twice a week) I would have them posted there. I'm not a big social media person I will say. To my question. Twitter (X) I believe mistook my account for "spam" and flagged me. I ended up closing the account because I wasnt every active with it and it just became another thing. However since then I have been flagged for Spam on other sites. Truly when I tell you I engage completely spam-free on socials. I don't really have anything to spam, I simply occasionally share my articles. Most recently another directory forum like this one, I signed up for. Didn't post or respond to a single thing, and I was banned. Why would this be? I have been scratching my head trying to figure out why this keeps happening.

It's your writing style. It says I'm a spammer. Your post is one long paragraph. No line breaks after each thought.

X or any social media site has advanced spam filters and if you were flagged it was for good reason. Could be you used a VPN or IP known for spamming that raised the flags.

Best advice I can give is to change your writing style and if you use a VPN use a reliable one and not one used by spammers.

I have to agree - the way you present yourself matters.

I initially considered spam-cleaning your account on Administrata, but I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt. After seeing your two posts, I realized you’re not a spammer.

That said, my first impression was that you were. On forums, I’d recommend using a more personal name to make your brand more recognizable. I spam-clean around 20 accounts a day, so I’m pretty quick at spotting spam before it even posts. Luckily, I didn’t remove yours!

Okay, this is great to know thank you. I'm new to this and not the most tech savvy so I appreciate any imput. So to clarify, the name of my site looks spammy? And my writing style within posts as well? Glad you didn't flag me! Definitely am not trying to spam and honestly had no idea it was coming off that way

I'm so glad I asked, I was totally not realizing it came off that way. I'm new to this so to be honest don't even know what a VPN is. So just to clarify you are referring to my writing style within my blog posts?

The name itself is professional and clean, but it’s also similar to many spammers. The bigger issue is how you present yourself - using your blog’s name as your username and your writing style in posts.

As AWS mentioned, your post is one long paragraph with no line breaks after each thought.

Communities are about people getting to know each other. Using your blog’s name as your identity sets the tone that you’re here to promote it rather than engage, which comes across as spammy.

X just flags people as spammer really quickly, I've encountered that myself as well.

I have not liked the name to be honest, I chose it quickly then felt I was kind of stuck with it. I'm hoping to change it. I just wanted to clarify one thing so I can start to fix this. When you say my posts sound scammy, do you mean my written posts on my website or what I have posted here? Looking at it from the perspective you gave me, I agree it looks that way having the logo and an impersonal name. I'm also looking into the other gentlemen's advice about VPN, which is going to be a learning curve

I believe it’s your writing style as your used to the reddit style and format.

Using line breaks while writing on forums would help others understand you better and communicate more freely. Forums are different than blog formats as well.

A lot of forum users use alias instead of their site name and logo, however, you’re in great hands here! Welcome aboard.

I was thinking that myself about Reddit.

I ended up here off of the advice of a reddit community for bloggers I've been in for a long time so Ive only used reddit. Awesome observation.

Here to learn! Appreciate all the feedback!

X flags new accounts like crazy. I've had to verify new accounts multiple times on X to confirm it's not spam.

Also: If you post majority of promotional content on social, you'll likely get flagged as a spammer, especially when starting out. Algorithms are designed for that.

What are you posting? Links to other sites? If so, that's why you get flagged.

Social media is an awesome way to promote... yourself rather than your links.
