Have you ever pivoted your forum or blog with a name change?

If so, how did it work out in the end? How did you audience take it?

Do you think it's important to consult with your audience and get their blessings before doing something as significant as pivoting and changing the name of a forum or blog?

Anyone have any horror stories over doing something like this?

I usually stick with a name and if I did change it, it was always in the beginning so it wasn't a hassle.

If I did want to change the name of a forum I'd let the members know and get their take on it. If they were all against it then I'd leave it alone.

I've been part of some forums that have changed their names but it was always in the beginning. Don't recall seeing a change after being established for so long.

I really think THIS is most important.

So many people rebrand and then it turns into a disaster because the followers don't like it.

Try not to "Cracker Barrel" your forum LOL

I always tend to put a lot of thought into the name of any website, forum, or blog I have, so that I do not fall into the issue of having to change it at a later date.
I'm with you on this one.

When I originally made AAF back in the day, I wanted to make an admin forum because I loved the niche, but the other admin forums out there had some crazy anti-competition rules.

A lot of them would automatically censor other admin forums as "anotheradminforum.com" and that's when I snagged that domain name and built a little brand with it.

Being able to own it today and run it again (now in a much better position in life), makes it feel nostalgia and everything! :D
