I just signed up for an account and when I tried to login to buy a domain name they would not let me sign in even though I used the correct user name and password. Anyone else ever have issues with porkbun. To me if they waste my time like this and can’t even handle logins it makes me wonder why I should use them in the first place if they can’t even get logins right.Yes I even wrote down the login credentials so I know they are correct.

Why use Porkbun when you can use CloudFlare and get many of the same features, if not more?
I've moved almost every one of my domains over to CF now. I think it was like $10 each to transfer (and extend) my .COM domains.

I don’t like the idea of keeping all my eggs in one basket. One thing goes awry and one company holds all your eggs. I want to keep domain, host and security separate.

I figured it out. They ask for username or email and only email works to log in. Why did I have to figure that out for them? That now still makes me leary of them, but people seem to like them and the price is right. I suppose I will give them a try. Thanks everyone👍

I really don't think doing your domain registration and DNS with CloudFlare is a big negative. They don't provide hosting so you are generally going to be looking elsewhere for that.
I do agree that doing your hosting, domain registration and DNS with all the same provider is not recommended.
Especially since some cheap hosting providers that do the registration of your domain assume ownership of it.

I've had an experience with some forums where after creating a new account with both username and password, when you want to login, you can't use your username but only email. It's very common with forums powered by Invision Community software.

You, I don’t want that irritating a potential sign up. It will state just email when signing in to avoid any confusion.Thank you👍 I learned something to make my forum better.

I sure would hate to do all that work and have it yanked and be powerless to do anything about it for sure.

Where it becomes fun is when someone that has used one of those cheap hosting providers decide they want to move and find out they can't transfer the domain without paying a "special fee" to purchase it from the hosting provider. I have seen that happen a few times.

I think they all have transfer fees. If you know of one that don’t have a transfer fee please let me know!👍

Well, I did not have to pay a "Fee" to transfer my domain from NameSilo to CloudFlare to NameSilo. But I did have to renew the registration for an additional year with CloudFlare, which was coming due soon for them anyway.
But the fee I am talking about is the one you have to pay to "buy" your domain back from the hosting provider so that you will be "allowed" to transfer it, since you never owned it in the first place - they did. And yes, there are only very few that do that process, but they do exist. It is why reading the agreement for hosting is important instead of just looking at the low cost you may be paying.
The receiving domain registrar may charge a fee for transferring in, but usually the ones I see it's just the purchasing of another year of the domain name registration such as with CloudFlare.

I want to say I didn't pay anything to transfer a domain from name cheap to dreamhost but I could be wrong - it was a while ago. Of course, they might also have a fee for it now.

It's a very serious annoying thing to face all the time, I don't like dealing with it. I don't experience being signed out regularly but it happens once in a while.
