Have any of you used Pinterest to promote your forum at all?

If yes, how do you use it and how often do you post pins? How has it helped your forum? Does it give you views, new members, or both?

Tell us about your Pinterest success!

Not for forums but for blogs. I was fairly successful on Pinterest. But later I could not spend time promoting on PInterest as I was too busy with X and Facebook.
I've tried to promote on Pinterest for my blog but I don't get much traction. How have you been using it?

I am not active on Pinterest these days but when I was active, I used to get a lot of repins that really helped me to get traffic
How were you posting pins? Were you doing custom art?

I learned there is something called "made for pinterest images" I studied what kind of images got a lot of repins and try to replicate same thing. My pinned images were basically infographics or design inspired.

If conventional social media platforms can't bring the much needed traffic to the site, I don't think Pinterest offers that much value in promoting a forum.

That's how I feel about it. I had a good debate about social media promotion a few years back. I did an experiment. I posted daily on Twitter and Facebook and dropped a link to the thread about it on my forum. Seconds after posting the online users would so crazy. Minutes later back to normal without one new user signup.
