I recently purchased a raffle add-on and a credits add-on (DBTech and their footer blurb REALLY sucks) to use for the site. Users will accumulate credits by posting and similar. The raffle add-on I am using (originally from Snogs then taken over by Ozzy47 and no under the control of Painbaker) has a really crappy default icon for the raffles. And it has a bug in it that does not allow you to upload a bespoke image for that raffle currently (reported on his site).

So, what I am wondering.. which is a more "pleasing" default icon for raffles in others opinion?

Personally.. I'm leaning towards the first one (and is currently what I am using) as it seems to encourage folks to buy a ticket using credits that they have built up and is a little more enticing.

To point out what I am referencing with DragonByte... two frigging links in their footer blurb and then a link to more detail on WHAT add-ons are in use?

Granted... I have contemplated paying the $70 for their removal fee... but my question is over whether that is for EACH add-on or for ALL add-ons they provide.
Answered.. it is for EACH add-on that they have. Needless to say, I will be looking for another credits/points add-on that the developers are not so money-centered about. Personally... A $75-$100 fee for brand-free use of ALL the DragonByte add-ons would be more realistic. But I do realize that some developers have to make money where they can.

I didn't care much about their copyrights, I deleted them even without copyright removal purchase. That is something unique to the xenforo ecosystem. Everyone wants to put their link on the bottom which quickly makes it very ugly. Something you don't see on Invision. I could live with developers offering the removal for a decent price, with a maximum of 15USD. But most developers on XF are too greedy. There's even one guy asking a shamelessly 500USD for his copyright removal. Cough vbresults.
On the themes I sell, I've got a link as well, but most buyers delete it. Don't really care. Most ask beforehand though. So that counts for something.

As for your images, check out Freepik. There's some great stuff there.

I'm not a fan of their BS copyright removal process.. as I do not think that $300+ USD is worth it for a global life-time removal.
But I am also one that tries to color within the lines.
And yes... I have to agree that there are many XF developers that are in it to maximize their income. That is why I commented that a $75-$100 fee for global copyright removal would be more realistic.. but greed does win out usually.

PixelExit has one of the better philosophies... you want to remove it you can for free. But if you want to show who makes the style for your site you can.
Pity more XF developers were not like that. The "nickel and dime them to death" attitude runs many away. I am honestly looking at paid alternatives that do NOT force branding on the user.

I've had my fair share of custom development, and although those were usually higher than the pre-made add ons, no one ever cared about adding copyright to it.

I like image 2.
I kind of liked that one myself.
But I really think that this is more "encouraging" to get folks to participate if they have the credits built up.

Who's really looking at the footer on forums, any ways? I mean, I wouldn't even worry about that. Why does it matter? Is it just bothering you? Keep your $70 for something worth $70 and forget about your footer LOL

I just hate a bunch of crap being added to the footer. I have seen some that have been 10-12 lines long due to the add-ons they used.
In the case of DragonByte.. they could easily clean (and shorten) their copyright up and limit it to one link on page and then the link "details" page that broadcasts their crap, which is not s simple list of the add-ons but ANOTHER link back to their site. The below is what you get when you click on the details.

More than you'd think. It causes useless clutter. I like to have every detail as clean as possible.

This doesn't look clean:

Winner Winner... Chicken Dinner!
All the little things add up... folks who do not use many (if any) add-ons don't realize it.
Multiple lines (or even links in one line) adds up to crap.
Ideally.. there would be a singular link in the XF footer that would redirect to a list of those copyright notices and not spam the footer like they do.
But for whatever reason.. that seems to not be an acceptable solution and garbage in the footer is.

I remember back in the day when I used SMF and a lot of addons. Every one of them would be a footer link/credit. It was pretty nuts looking.

But aside from me (or the owner of a forum), I really doubt anyone is looking at your footer and judging your forum for it. :P LOL I'm sorry but that just makes me laugh.

But to aid in your footer discomfort, I almost wish forum software would create a "credits.php" page linked to the footer. Then they could have all 3rd party credits on that page because sure it can look cluttered to the person annoyed by it the most. A separate page would be great.

@Cedric You say you remove them - is that not a violation of the agreement for using them?

Yes and no. I had a credits page in the help pages, so if any developer asked about it, I directed them to that link. And I never had anyone complain it wasn’t good enough. But as said before, those asking a reasonable price, I’d purchase it. But then you have vbresults who’s asking a mere 500 USD for a removal.. Sorry, that is just pure greed.

No, that’s someone else. He’s owner of a couple free forum hosting sites. 😀
I see. I see.

There were a few I remember in my experience that had unrealistic pricing for removing the credit links.

I rarely add addons these days but I'm open to doing it when members suggest new features. I always try to keep that dialog open on my forums.

At the end of the day, feedback is your biggest audience asset.

Except, most members don’t really care what features we have available. 😅
For entering info... I would have to agree.... but for consuming data... ehhhh... beg to disagree!
The problem is finding the folks to generate that data that others want to consume.

Yeah, that's about right.

I've tried every new feature you can imagine over the years. Most get little use.

The forum always gets more use because it's a forum and people who use forums know what to expect.

On mobile it looks really bad. It's not so bad on desktop.
