Do bigger forums need security staff?

This could be staff who deal with all security situations such as enforcement of policies to protection of the community under attack.

Do you think a position solely focused on security for larger forums (and even smaller ones) would be a good innovation to forums?

I don't think security staff is needed at all. I see no circumstance where one is needed. If there are forums that deal with volatile topics then I could see security staff being useful. For mom and pop nah.

I wouldn't call it a security staff but a technical staff who handles any technical issues about the site. When it comes to the enforcement of forum's policies, the moderators are more than equal to the task.

There’s no need for security positions. They’re basically moderators.

I can see this position being needed on a larger scale platform like Facebook or Reddit, but that’s about it.

Exactly! It's just duplication of staff positions as far as I'm concerned. Even on bigger platforms like all the Meta brands and X, it's still the same thing.
