Have you ever used spamming techniques to grow your forum?

Maybe you were young or just starting out. Maybe you still do this.

Have any of you ever used this tactic?

No, I haven’t used this tactic before. I’d rather not have my name tarnished as a spammer.
I might had spammed a little unknowingly back when I first started websites as a kid but nothing major and I learned quickly.

I really try hard not to even remotely get close to spamming these days.

Going to have to define what "spam" is for an answer from me.

I pay for quality backlinks, which is a grey area, but it does give me a boost in ratings after a while.

Spamming your forum to boost it is even more better than what some forum owners are doing today with the use of AI chatbots to reply posts in all sections of the forum.

I don't quite know about that.

They just need to tweak the commands for replies by training it on different writing styles and not to deviate from that. It'll come out as human, as it's mimicking who you had train it (i.e., copy every blog post by someone in a niche and to write it to sound like them), and you get quite impressive results from search engines.

I took the transcripts of 500 YouTube videos on someone to make it sound like them and the results were incredible from rewriting my works to their style and tone, as I like to use run-on sentences, with a lot of commas and breaks, to complete a sentence, like this one, which doesn't get too good of results (but if I'm doing it for a forum and for me, I will only use what I type--this is for other projects).

Not going to reveal all my secrets, but that's a clue to how it can be done, if possible with the chatbots.

That said, I think chatbots ruin a forum. I would never implement it. It's essentially dead internet theory in practice at that point.

The only bot I plan on making soon (in an addon of my own) is !remindme X year(s), Y month(s), Z (days), or A hours, which will send an alert to them for that post in the specified time so they can revisit it in a year much easier than bookmarking it (Reddit feature?).

I've yet to see this in practice where it's not easily detected.

You can really tell when it's AI speak versus how me and you talk. AI uses interesting word combinations that are almost perfect English and even for a grammar-freak like me (according to FP lol) I don't type like that.

Once they perfect it to look like you or me, then we'll be living in a Person of Internet episode when we get on forums, LOL.

Seriously, I had to tone down how I use grammar when posting on forums. I've been accused so many times as well for being a bot or copying AI. I was like are you fuvking me 😂 😂.. The last time I experienced that was on English Premier League Sub Reddit. I couldn't stop laughing.
