Too many addons!!

How many addons is too many addons for a forum?

I've always tried to keep mine under 10. Right now, I have well under 10.

What number do you think is too much and why that number versus any other number?

What does having too many addons on a forum mean to you as a forum admin?

Well to be honest it depends on the scope of the project. What is it that I really need to fit the vibe of the niche on the site?

Addons are just extra baggage honestly. You have to manage and bridge across your core value. Will it benefit just the staff, the members or both? I personally do not use a 3rd party application unless I absolutely have too. If it meets the usefulness of what I am trying to achieve than I'll consider it, but if not, its a waste of tables on the database is how I see it. Another factor is, how reliable is the third party dev able to keep pushing updates when the core software updates?

I remember back in the day there were all types of plugins and extensions to forums such as "Arcade" and other silly stuff people would add. But eventually having so much running on your board will ultimately break the site. It was a good time then but looking back it was kinda cringe. lol
