How would define a toxic member or troll on your own forum?

What has to happen before you identify as member as one?

What is your response to them? Warn first or ban on sight?

Toxic members are the ones that ignore the rules. I've banned one member for sharing passwords with non-members to my poker games. I've also banned a few members that signed up to post ads.
I think it's common to ban the ones who join to post ads, even those who are actually human spammers and not bots.

This is exactly what I do. I’ve noticed a few users join and, a day or two later, edit their post to add a link.

When I catch them, I swiftly drop the ban hammer.

I also revert their post to its original message before the edit.

Sounds like I need to extend a spam add on, or develop one of my own.

If edited and a link or spam phrase is included, knock it to moderation.

Will make a public release of the original if I do, but won't support updates (as it costs money to do that and I'd get nothing up front in the first place).

You could make it to where you have to approve anything with "http" in it.

I'm not sure if it would catch editing a post later.

For me the solution for those "people" is simpler and easier than it seems, the solution is to ban them for life, that is why there should always be an active moderator in all the forums, to avoid those toxic and useless people who only ruin the interaction between people in a forum

I agree with the solution. Trolls will destroy a forum in a heartbeat if they're not dealt with.
