What forum software have you tried out?

I’ve used SMF, vBulletin, IPB, and Xenforo.

SMF was actually the first forum software I ever used, and vBulletin was the second.

I tried MyBB when my buddy owned a forum using it before he switched to Xenforo. I’m not much of a fan of MyBB.

I've tried all the major popular brands as an admin, except Invision, VB, and Wolt Lab. However, though, what defines popular? There's probably some I left out.
I suppose popular is just how many people use it.

I have used on live Forums as admin:
vBulletin (very long time ago)
xenForo (current)

I have played around with others mentioned above, but not to the point to say "I have used it as a live forum".
And I wouldn't like to move to another until I become an expert on xenForo.

wwwboard
UBB
wwwthreads
vbulletin
phpbb
xenforo
IPB
discourse
nodebb
vanilla
phorum
burning board

When Admin Addict was in it's heyday I would install demo boards for users to experiment with. There are more than I have listed that I installed.

I plan to follow the same thing with Forum². I have IPB 5b3 test site up already at https://testing123.info

Pretty sure it’s Shortie who owned admin addicts, then renamed to chataddicts?
Nope. I owned Admin Addict as well as Admin Talk. Merged them both then sold it as popularity started to wain to Crowd Gather.

How was phorum and nodebb?

NodeBB was great. Almost as fast as Discourse. Easy to work on. Phorum was like wwwboard only with a combined view of forums with topics inline.
I think I might have seen NodeBB. Was it more modern in terms of the look and feel?
