What makes a forum toxic?

I agree with that.

Toxic members that do not get checked when they need to be checked!

I definitely think there is such thing as too much moderation.

I've seen that on a lot of forums.

Heck - I've created new forums in a niche as a result of that.

Actually, I created my very first forum because the exact same reason lol...

I created my first admin forum because of it. I felt TheAdminZone had rules that were not very positive (mainly in terms of how aggressive they were about competition).

One of the main reasons I chose AnotherAdminForum.com back then was because some competitive admin forums would add other admin forums to the censoring filter as that domain name. LOL It was sneaky, but it also was brandable because a few admin forums were popping up.
