What’s your #1 “this user feels off” early warning sign when it comes to spammers?

We all get those new members who join and just don't seem right.

Some of them slip through the cracks, but they usually teach us something more about spammers each time.

My #1 early warning sign is an avatar that feels out of place, especially when it isn’t game-related or doesn’t match the community vibe. That usually puts them on my radar right away.


I’ve also noticed a common pattern where a new user makes a normal-looking post, then comes back days later to edit it and quietly add a link. Those are often the spammers that slip through at first.


They join, post something harmless, wait, then edit the post with a spam link later on.
