Do you allow some profanity on your forum?

What profanity is allowed? What profanity is not allowed?

Never! Why would a forum owner allow for such a thing in their community? Maybe it can actually be allowed in a mature board section but I don't really think it's necessary.

I don't like profanity, myself.

I try hard not to in real life, too.

Older folks don't like it. Kids don't need to learn it. It makes a person sound ugly.

But I see it more on forums and social media than I see it anywhere else.

I think it's more on social media platforms than they are on forums. Take for instance, it's flooded on X and nothing is being done about it. It's probably why some people feel it's too strict on forums which is why they jump on social media platforms to behave as they like.

I think Elon wanted X so people can act the way they do on there without worry.

It's like those old trolling forums from the past. No rules unless it harms him.

It depends on your definition of profanity. Sexual related like the f word and genitalia related are censored on my sites as is the ever popular taking of the Lords name in vain. But stuff like the common word for defecation, urination and such are allowed. Otherwise, you would block someone from saying something like "I got piss poor service from the vendor" or "their support is for ****". And being a blunt spoken person, I do use those words regularly.
EDIT
And I see here the defecation term is censored. Just a difference in opinion. I know sites that do not censor at all. Not places I normally hang at though.

I normally censor that word by default just in case it's used against someone.

Your example of "their service was ****" to me wouldn't be that big of a deal but when it's used against someone like "you're a **** head" then it becomes a phrase of abuse. That is what I'm going for when I censor that. If you said "their service is shat" to bypass my censor, I wouldn't even think to scold you for it because that's not the intention of the censoring.

We need AI censoring so we can train models. There you go developers watching, there is some gold for you LOL

To get around that you simply use the exact phrase. You would use the poophead and poop head in the censor list. Of course we both know that there are easy ways to bypass that, but when a user does that it then shows intention instead of writing like they normally talk.

The extent at which he pushes his free speech agenda is so weird and worked up but unfortunately there's absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. If you don't like what's happening on X, don't use it is the code word for it.

He says what he wants but when others do it and he doesn't like what they say, he'll threaten to ban them.

Because of that, he ruined Twitter,

It was what led to launching of Bluesky and also creating more rooms for people to switch from X to Threads. It's actually loss, but it's just that X is too big that it can't really crash 100%.

Bluesky does seem to be the social platform for liberals though. Just as X seems to be the platform for conservatives.
