I think it's more on social media platforms than they are on forums. Take for instance, it's flooded on X and nothing is being done about it. It's probably why some people feel it's too strict on forums which is why they jump on social media platforms to behave as they like.I don't like profanity, myself.
I try hard not to in real life, too.
Older folks don't like it. Kids don't need to learn it. It makes a person sound ugly.
But I see it more on forums and social media than I see it anywhere else.

. Sexual related like the f word and genitalia related are censored on my sites as is the ever popular taking of the Lords name in vain. But stuff like the common word for defecation, urination and such are allowed. Otherwise, you would block someone from saying something like "I got piss poor service from the vendor" or "their support is for ****". And being a blunt spoken person, I do use those words regularly.
