    I worked on some post exchanges, and I posted on admin forums like this one to build more backlinks. I also followed more accounts on Twitter, added friends related to my niche on Facebook, and posted links to social media.

    Members Passing Away

    I've never had any members on my forum pass away, but my forum has only been open for less than a year. I managed a Facebook group where I've had 2 members pass away, and they supported my goals/dreams to build my site.

    What made you choose the forum software you use for your forum? I went with Xenforo, because it seems to be the most popular choice, and it has core features that I wanted for my community.

    Inactive Forum Staff Members

    It's a requirement for all my staff members to maintain a active presence. I have rules in place to try, and prevent my staff from becoming inactive.

    I regularly email my members usually when I have a promotion running to get members to check the site. Do you send out mass emails to your members?

    I reply to most topics on my forums. I don't reply to everything in our off topic sections. I only post in there when I'm bored.

    Fake Members

    I noticed this on a few forums too, I prefer real members on my forums. I'm not creative enough to create discussions amongst myself, and try to deceive my members.

    Signature links in forums, and social media are the primary ways I build backlinks for my forum. I have links on a few sites related to my niche too.

    I don't announce when I banned a member on my forum. However if that member was banned for scamming members, I might make an announcement.

    What sort of topics do you find engage the most replies when starting new threads? I like to add a question, and my response to the question to try and get more replies/feedback from my members.

    That's why I haven't added Facebook login to my forum yet, but I also forgot because I've been working on many other things to improve my forum.
