I don't have proven formula how to make them to start posting, but I have another one that works. I remove inactive users (this might not be a popular method, but it works for me)

    One or multiple sources

I like multiple sources of income. Giving more time to the most efficient ways/skills to generate the most revenue, then creating other sources/business to diversify.

    Slow Season Forum Momentum

Sometimes you can do contests, promotions, adding new things and nothing seems to work on slow seasons. Sometimes we just have to go through it as it is. Users also have a life and they might need a break from online for one reason or another. It's just part of the game. Don't get too caught in...

    When to quit...

I feel you! When I get into that zone, I remind myself what was the initial purpose of my forum. Then I can immediately remove any feelings of quitting. If your purpose has changed, then it's time to quit. But if not, just keep working it out. In my case, I had been disappointed many times...

Article Dealing with Founder Burnout without Letting Your Forum Die

Yes, I go through burnouts too. I take 2-3 days to refresh.. My forum is not a hobby, it has a purpose, so my burnouts don't last and I get back on. I rather a small forum, easy to manage and one gets better connections with the users.

    Credit System

If it's the same credit system that in on every forum, not really. Are you offering tangible stuff for the credits? Maybe gift cards or something? If you add something different other than the regular, then yes.

    Emailing forum members

I email users anytime I have something I consider important. A piece of news or an update. But It's not on a fixed schedule. My userbase is quite small, so I don't have the quota limit problem. But I can send up to 1000 emails per hour. (I use a lot of internal emails for alerts and stuff though)

    Profit Paid Membership Worth

Having a paid membership offering no much more than what others offer for free it's a lost cause. In websites/forums that have both free/paid versions, the majority never pay. Just a small percentage are paying users if they find useful what you offer. I have been using YouTube for over 15...

Do you prefer minimal or fully featured?

You can suggest that feature to addon creators. It should be easy to add that option for users.

Do you prefer minimal or fully featured?

I joined a forum not long ago with a bunch of features.. I really felt uncomfortable. To many things I don't use and occupying screen space/distractions. Features should be modular, That only shows if user choose to use them. I like more the simple. And really don't like ads within posts...

    Free forums have a chance

Oh, ... no, I would never create a serious forum on those free hosting forums...Maybe for testing something, But the data is never yours plus lack of flexibility. They add advertising that I would not want to put, etc....

    Free forums have a chance

I do not have experience with free forum software, I had been tented, but I have read they are a pain to update/upgrade. I really don't have complains with the paid software I am using. And at the end of the day, to run a forum has costs, whether is a free or paid software, so, I rather to...
