    Can't make money blogging

Blogging is easy, but you have to treat it like a business if you want to make money from it, stay consistent, and stay organized. With the latter of organization, you better have at least 5 articles in the works that you're constantly refining to post 1-3 per week. With my tourist blog, it...

    Username versus Real Name

I like a shield of anonymity, and that was before "they" could take you out of context and destroy your life. I suppose I always used nicknames because I started with them on games and whatnot, only having to ever move to an alias D/B/A name on a Big Board I worked for.

    Forum Directories

I'll just throw these stats out there for Forum Directory to let others determine if they want to add their forums before they're automatically added from the long list of forums in the queue (or rethink whether they want to add their forums to other directories after the following rhetorical...

    Multi-Quotes

I don't have multi-quoting enabled because it makes it possible for (mistakenly) "replying" to content not being discussed and throwing the original topic of the thread they're replying to off course. If the context of that quote is necessary to add to the conversation, they can easily copy the...

    Guest Posting

I've set up chanForo's framework to allow guest posting because it's based on an anonymous image board that works on top of XenForo. The only thing stopping me now is deciding whether I want AI to check for the BAD stuff or if I want it to run through Cloudflare. I'm just unsure about the...

    Arcade

HTML with CSS, but a necessary PHP backend (depending on the forum software) to log stats (unless simple single-player games that you don't want to have save points with). I have something in the works, but it's queued by the developer. Reinventing forum games. :)

Forum Help Request The mobile navigation footer bar is gone

Looks fine now, but some UI improvements would be the hamburger menu, ANOTHER ADMIN FORUM, and the search icon for the top bar for less screen real-estate. Then just a minor touch to the bottom to center the default avatar in the circle.

Forum Help Request The mobile navigation footer bar is gone

Somehow it's now over my Android control buttons, which I would have thought to be impossible. 💀 Maybe it's a phone issue.

Forum Help Request The mobile navigation footer bar is gone

It suddenly reappeared, but the What's new, etc. is now in the top nav too. Before, it was just a sticky "ANOTHER ADMIN FORUM" with the footer nav as is. Android 14 Chrome 135.0.7049.100

Forum Help Request The mobile navigation footer bar is gone

When AAF removed the hamburger menu (if that was there), username, mailbox, alerts, etc. from the main navbar on mobile, it was put into a sticky footer navbar. It's no longer there on my phone, so I can't even see notifications or (easily) access my messages. Where'd it go? 🤔

    Hiring Content Creators: Beware

I believe that I put out an ad for forum admins who want paid more than the average content deals (and if not, I should look into that and reopen the offer). Forum admins should share a common goal and would be the best fit for the gig if they are on the same level of wanting to see their forum...

    Hiring Content Creators: Beware

I wouldn't mind too much if they had duplicate accounts and were just goofing around. The problem lies in that they were being paid weekly to seed a forum. On top of it, they were recruited from two of the leading forums that allow their members to offer their content services. So, I circle...

    Hiring Content Creators: Beware

If I shared how before I implement a KYC-style hiring system in place — Don't want to do a Webcam interview? Fine by me now. — it will give away my security tactics where, I'll be very shocked, I may link a few more, unless they can evade it by me sharing. You can believe or not, but 5...

    Hiring Content Creators: Beware

I caught 2 content creators as the same person a couple of months ago and let them go on the spot for lying to me. A couple of months later, I caught 2 more, which ended up being linked to the original two. Today, I caught 1 more linked to those 4. I have been paying 1 person 5 times per week...

    Backing up your host

I get a snapshot of my instances, which is essentially a copy of the entire "machine" (OS, configuration, etc.) daily, and then do daily backups of individual websites, both on and off-location, with one being on my home NAS.

What's the best way to pay for your hosting?

I pay up to 10 years for a solid domain that sends a message "This domain will only be yours for the right price", but generally, yearly so that renewals are scattered along with the sales that I do get from my portfolio - the sales help renewals, and if they were all at once, it wouldn't be...

    Updating PHP

Only when absolutely required, and everything I run is supported by the newer version. For instance, XF 2.2 requires PHP 7.0 with a minimum of 8.2, but does not behave well on 8.2 or 7.0 with the add ons I have, and I have a couple of licenses for 2.2 that I might pop up before upgrading to...

    Most Money Spent?

I use cloud services billed per hour so it can range from $120ish to $250/month, depending on if I want to get a heavy task done faster (deploy an 8vCPU instance to bust something out quickly as I do value my time too, even though it could very well fully execute on 1vCPU). I also have Object...

Is the dot forum a flop?

I acquired a .forum domain with a forum that I bought (since resold, but kept the name). It was coming up for renewal at NameCheap next month for $42, and I was kind of iffy on that price. So tonight, I checked my favorite registrar, Dynadot, and it was $32. That $10 extra was enough push for...

    Staying Logged In

I do. It's a left-to-right productivity routine I have down. Mailbox 1, Service 1, Mailbox 2, Mailbox 3, Drive, Sheet 1, Sheet 2, ... (winging it from bed, but essentially that with 30~ tabs). Each time I go left to right, it reminds me of the importance of tasks that need completed.
